Films

11th March 2013
Hello and welcome to the first instalment of the Teen Talk blog, the movie page! I am Rachel and I will be your weekly updater on the newest movies to hit the big screen. I will be talking about the best movie of the week and if I have enough time I might talk about more than one. I would like you to know that I am still in school so if I don’t update, it’s because I’m busy so I’ll say sorry in advance. However, I hope this doesn’t happen and I am very happy that my friend came up with this idea!

The Mama Film Poster
Anyway, down to business. This week, as it’s my first post, I am going to talk about two movies. The first movie is Mama.
Released in February, this movie was a huge horror to hit our screens and everyone was talking about it. The story is about two young girls that were left in the woods after parts of their family had been killed. The problem was they weren’t entirely alone. A ghost called Mama had been looking after the girls for five years before anyone found them and when they did, they had become wild animals because of being away from social situations for so long. Their uncle has to try and train them what they should have been learning over the past five years but has no idea the ghost, Mama, is quietly getting very jealous and plotting how to kill them.

The positives about this film are; it’s got a good storyline, some good scares and some brilliant ghosts.  There are some scary bits when the ghost runs at the camera and there are some brilliant things to make you think about it rather than spelling it out for you. The actors used are also really good and make the performance even more believable. They’re brilliant for the roles given and the film would be a lot worse without them in it.
The negatives about the film are; it’s quite predictable, not as many scares as I would have liked and some scenes could have been made a lot scarier and more effective for this film.
Overall, it is quite a good film and I would recommend it but it’s not one to make you not sleep at night (which some people really like). Really, I can’t tell you whether to watch it or not because it’s about how scared you get when watching films. So all I can say is try it for yourself and see what you think about it.

The second film I’m going to talk about is a much lighter, happier film, Wreck-It Ralph. This is an animated film about a guy called Ralph who is a bad guy in his game called Fix-It Felix. On the 30th anniversary of the game, he realises how much the other game characters dislike him and he decides to change that and prove he can be a hero. He sets out to go to another game called ‘Heroes Duty’ which is going to help him prove that he isn’t always the bad guy. This is followed by plenty of shenanigans, a cheeky girl called Vanellope von Schweetz and a big decisions to make for the sake of all the other games in the arcade and his own.

The positives about this film are; it’s brilliant plotline, gorgeous animation and full of brilliant actors. This is such a heart warming film with a bit of sadness in it but overall I loved this film and I can’t find any negatives about it. I absolutely adored this film and I feel like I should give the directors and writers a huge bunch of flowers for this! They’ve made an absolutely amazing film that deserves all the awards in the world because it’s so adorable! Some of you may disagree because well we’re all human and we all have different opinions but I would really recommend this film to anyone because my niece and nephew loved it, I loved it and my mum loved it so it is really for all ages!

I hope you enjoy these films and agree with me but if you don’t, comments are not for haters. If you want to put your opinion, please do, we would really appreciate your opinion but don’t say hurtful things or other hateful comments. We all have different opinions and I will respect yours if you respect mine. So, to finish off, both films are quite good (Wreck-It Ralph is better by my standards) and I recommend both to you. I hope you like them and I will be reposting in a week so stay tuned and happy watching!!!
